A Wonderful Weekend with ‘the shop’

Truly a dreamy few days this weekend, collaborating with the shop as they brought a larger selection of their merchandise to our pop-up at Hill Station.

Founded in Delhi in 1969, the shop works closely with artisans across India to preserve traditional craft techniques, including hand block printing, embroidery, and textile work, reinterpreting them through a contemporary lens.

It was such a delight to get to know Aishwarya Singh and to learn firsthand about the many details that go into crafting each piece. From the story behind the founding of the organization to the remarkable processes involved in block printing, embroidery, and textile production, every item carries a rich history. We were especially fascinated to learn how antique books and archival materials serve as inspiration for many of the exquisite traditional motifs and patterns found throughout the collection.

Their collection featured soft, hand-printed cotton dresses, sharara pants, pajama sets, and kimonos, alongside intricately screen-printed curtain panels, embroidered cushions, and beautifully coordinated table linens. There truly was something for everyone, all reflecting the shop‘s commitment to quality, craftsmanship, and attention to detail.

A special thank you to Aishwarya for making the journey all the way to Ashland and for so generously sharing her knowledge, stories, and passion for these traditions with us and our customers.

We’re excited to share that we hope to carry a larger selection from the shop in the future, so stay tuned for updates.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who stopped by. Your support of handmade goods, traditional craftsmanship, and small businesses means so much to us.
