About Us

About Hill Station

A Corner Market for Living Crafts
Hill Station is an independent shop on the sunny corner of 4th and A Street in Ashland, Oregon. We are in the heart of Ashland’s Railroad District, just a short walk from the Oregon Shakespeare Festival, Lithia Park, and the Plaza. We carry handmade home goods, block-printed textiles, folk art, fair trade gifts, and ethically sourced clothing from makers around the world.
The Persian poet, Rumi, said, “Let the beauty you love, be what you do.”  Each piece we carry is a reflection of those words. Not a logo. Not a factory code. Each piece is crafted with quality and care, and carries the story of a person, a place, a tradition.

What We Carry and Where It Comes From
Every item in our shop is handmade on a small scale, the traditional way. Our block-printed cotton quilts, tablecloths, and cushion covers come from small workshops in Rajasthan and Gujarat, India, where artisans carve wooden blocks by hand and print each layer of color individually, using a process unchanged for centuries. Our handwoven baskets travel from Tanzania, Rwanda, Uganda, Zimbabwe, and Portugal, each one carrying the character of the hands that made it. Our clothing is cut and stitched in India from lightweight cotton voile and block-printed muslin, designed to breathe, move, and last.
Beyond textiles, you’ll find olive wood pieces from Kenya, fair trade jewelry from Morocco, stainless steel spice containers from India, ceramics, stationery, and objects for the kitchen and garden sourced from craft traditions across four continents.
The common thread running through everything we carry is quality, beauty, and a deep respect for handmade traditions. We look for makers who work with care, use natural materials, and pass their skills down through generations. When you buy from Hill Station, you’re not just buying an object, you’re supporting the people who made it.

An Independent Shop in Ashland, Oregon
Hill Station is locally owned and independently operated. We are not a franchise, not a chain, and not a marketplace algorithm. We personally hand-select everything in the shop, and we know the story behind each piece. Our shop is a place to slow down, browse, and discover. We see ourselves as a gallery of folk art. You’re always welcome to come in and browse our selection and new arrivals!
We’ve been part of Ashland’s community since 2013.
We
’re located in Ashland’s Railroad District at 287 4th Street, Suite 1, right on the corner.  Our hours vary a bit seasonally. We are open Tuesday through Saturday, 10am to 4pm. If you’re visiting Ashland for the Shakespeare Festival or passing through southern Oregon, we’d love to see you.
