The Two Keys imprint is made in the historic Touqan family workshop in Nablus. Their original factory, as well as their family company, is more than 800 years old and a famous institution of Palestine, located in the center of the old city of Nablus. The Two Keys' primary market is in central Palestine in the areas around Nablus.
For over 800 years, the two iron keys to Jerusalem’s holiest church, the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, have been entrusted to two Muslim families. The Christian denominations who share the church (Greek Orthodox, Armenian, Catholic) often disagreed over who should control it, so two neutral Muslim families were chosen to keep the peace. This tradition began in the 12th century, during the time of Saladin.
Today, the same two families still open the great wooden doors each morning with these very same iron keys, passed down through generations. They remain the guardians of peace and daily keepers of the door, a quiet symbol of harmony in the heart of the Old City.
